Ed Seaman

Edward Seaman (Ed)

Ed Seaman has been serving in our local business community for 28 years.  He graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a BA degree in Communications Studies in 1980.  After serving as a local sales representative for Savin Corporation, Commercial Telephonics and Computer Plaza, Ed started his management career in 1985, when he accepted the Sales & Marketing Manager position with EDi Computer Systems. 

In 1989, Ed accepted the role of General Manager for Entre Computer Centers in Ventura, at the time the largest retail computer dealership in the Tri-Counties.  He expanded his role and the business for four years as Entre’ experienced annual revenue growth of 64% annually from fiscal 1989 through fiscal 1991.  Responsibilities included managing a staff of 32, penetrating new markets, team building, systems and process development.

In 1992, he founded his first company, iMEDIA Solutions, Inc.  iMEDIA grew quickly into the largest local Computer Based Training development firm in Ventura County, serving clients like Amgen, GTE West, Unocal, the County of Ventura, Xircom and Southern California Edison.  In addition to being responsible for day-to-day operations, Ed was responsible for the team building, project management and deployment of eighteen interactive multimedia training and information delivery projects deployed via CD-ROM, Kiosk, Local and Wide Area Network.

In late 1996, he decided to take his experience back to corporate America.  Ed worked in Operations and IT Management for a financial planning company (Mercer Global Advisors) and a manufacturer (Hendry Telephone Products).  He also developed curriculum and taught in the evenings for the Multimedia Arts and Technologies department of Santa Barbara City College through 2001. 

In 2002, Ed accepted the position of Information Technology Manager with Medtronic, one of the largest and most respected bio-tech companies in the world.  In his tenure at Medtronic, he managed a budget that grew to almost $2M while he built teams and refined his project & management skills in the context of large, multi-year, cross-location projects.  His successes include writing 107 quality-controlled operating procedures & related documents, FDA mandated compliance renovations, Sarbanes Oxley, SAP, network, data center and large-scale web development projects.  He was selected to be a member of the Goleta facility Senior Staff in 2006.  Ed left Medtronic in May, 2007 to start his coaching practice.

Ed Seaman’s knowledge of business systems, processes & technology, enthusiasm for improvement and depth as a leader, educator and team builder is now dedicated to improving the small and medium-sized businesses of Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. 

Ed loves the ocean, the mountains, the deserts, hiking, fishing and critters of all kinds.  He lives in Santa Barbara with his wife and their four children.
